AUREOGAL 160 mg/g powder for oral solution

Composition:

1 g of the veterinary medicinal product contains:

Active substance:
Chlortetracyclini hydrochloridum 160 mg

Excipients: Acidum citricum anhydricum, glucosum monohydricum

Homogenous powder of yellow colour.

 Indications:

Treatment of respiratory and gastrointestinal infections caused by microorganisms susceptible to chlortetracycline:
Pigs: Bronchopneumonia (Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae, Klebsiella spp., Pasteurella multocida, Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae), enteritis (Escherichia coli, Salmonella choleraesuis) and ileitis (Lawsonia intracellularis).
Calf, lamb: Bronchopneumonia (Pasteurella multocida), enteritis (Escherichia coli).
Chicken: Bronchopneumonia (Mycoplasma gallisepticum, Mycoplasma synoviae, Pasteurella multocida), enteritis (Escherichia coli, Salmonella spp.).
Turkey: Bronchopneumonia (Mycoplasma synoviae, Mycoplasma meleagridis, Pasteurella multocida), enteritis (Escherichia coli, Salmonella spp.).
Rabbit: Bronchopneumonia (Pasteurella multocida), enteritis (Escherichia coli). 

Dose for each species, method and route of administration: 

Individually:
Pigs, calves, lambs: 0.35 g medicine/kg bw.
Chickens, turkeys: 0.5-1 g medicine/10 kg bw.
Dose should be divided into two equal doses and administered twice a day. 

Via feed:
Pigs, lambs, calves: 5 g medicine/kg feed
Chickens, turkeys: 2.5 g medicine/kg feed

Via water:
Pigs, lambs, calves: 2 g medicine/L water
Chickens, turkeys: 2 g medicine/L water
Rabbits: 6.5 g medicine/L water
Duration of administration: 5-10 days.

On the basis of recommended dose and number and weight of treated animals, the exact daily dose of the medicine AUREOGAL 160 mg/g powder for oral solution should be calculated according to the following formula:

(... g medicine per kg bodyweight per day x Average bodyweight (kg) of animals to be treated) / 
Average water intake (L) per animal and day   = … g medicine per 1 litre of drinking water

To ensure a correct dosage, bodyweight should be determined as accurately as possible to avoid underdosing. The uptake of medicated water depends on the clinical condition of the animal. In order to obtain the correct dosage, the concentration of medicine has to be adjusted taking into account water intake.

Route of administration:

Orally, homogenously mixed into the feed or dissolved in drinking water.

Withdrawal period:

Meat and offal: Pigs, lambs, rabbits: 10 days. Calves: 30 days. Chickens, turkeys: 3 days.
Eggs: 7 days.

Contraindications:

Do not use in older calves and lambs with developed stomach compartments. Do not use in cases of hypersensitivity to the active substance or to any of the excipients. Do not use in animals with severe hepatic or renal impairment.

Adverse reactions:

Allergic skin reactions may rarely occur, however after interruption or termination of treatment disappear.
-very common (more than 1 in 10 animals treated displaying adverse reaction(s)) during the course of one treatment)
- common (more than 1 but less than 10 animals in 100 animals treated)
- uncommon (more than 1 but less than 10 animals in 1,000 animals treated)
- rare (more than 1 but less than 10 animals in 10,000 animals treated)

Special precautions for storage:

Keep out of the sight and reach of children. Store below 25°C. Protect from light. Store in a dry place. 
Do not use this veterinary medicinal product after the expiry date stated on label.
Shelf life after first opening the immediate packaging: 30 days.
Shelf life after dilution in drinking water according to directions: 12 hours
Shelf life after incorporation into feed: use immediately.
